Conversations with the Sky
Conversations with the Sky was created at a residency in Sonoma, not long after the wildfires had torched much of the surrounding area and Northern California during a record two years of climate change. There was evidence on the land of what “normal” life had once been. A fire pit that could no longer be used. Pathways that had been cleared of flammable brush.
There are answers that could not be found, but how human it is to search for them. By inserting a mirror inside a once functional fire-pit that warmed humans, I wanted to see if a previous gathering place could now be a quiet place to gather and reflect on questions.
As visitors looked inside at different times of day and on moonlit nights, the reflected light was meant to be a constant reminder that things are ever changing and nothing is simple.
This temporary installation was documented at different times of day and night, and during various phases of the moon.
